Bob Dean

Bob Dean was appointed to the Board of Trustees by Governor Ted Strickland on April 4, 2007.

Mr. Dean is a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran with 20 years of active duty service. He served as the first full-time U.S. Air Force Equal Opportunity Specialist and piloted Equal Opportunity Programs recommended to the Department of Defense. He is the recipient of numerous military awards to include three Meritorious Service Medals, two U.S. Air Force Commendation Medals, the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and he was twice selected as Major Air Command Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

Mr. Dean retired from the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority in 2007 where he served as the Facility Security Officer. Mr. Dean also served a dual role as Diversity Manager of the Economic Development Division Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority. Mr. Dean also retired from the City of Houston Mayor’s office in 1982 where he served as Director of the Mayor’s Citizens Assistance Office, acting City Council Agenda Director, Minority and Women Owned Business Section Manager, and Affirmative Action/Contract Compliance Division Manager.

Mr. Dean has an extensive community service record which includes being honored with the Who’s Who in Black Cleveland Award in both the 2005 and 2006 Edition, elected to the Warren City Schools Hall of Fame 2004, Greater Cleveland YMCA Volunteer of the Year “Best of the Best” award presented April 2003, recipient of the 1998 and 2000 YMCA of Greater Cleveland Triangle Award, recipient of the National Institute for Public Service (Jefferson Award), and recipient National Presidents Volunteer Action Award presented by former President George Bush

Mr. Dean has served as a Board Member on The American Youth Organization Assistance Foundation, Inc.; The Urban League of Greater Resource and Development; United Negro College Fund of Northern Ohio; Greater Cleveland Minority Procurement Roundtable and currently serves as Vice-President of the Trumbull County Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. Dean is married to Nedra V. Dean and resides in Warren, Ohio.
